It’s called Interstate Commerce, Mr. Villaraigosa

For those who might be confused, I was referencing the United States Constitution (Article I, Section 8, Clause 3). The clause states that the United States Congress shall have power “To regulate Commerce with Foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes”.
There also stands substantial legal precedent to confirm the Federal Government’s absolute control over Interstate Commerce. The actions Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa is backing, suggesting California boycott Arizona, is blatantly more unconstitutional than Arizona’s law, which is derived from the Federal Law and may lead to some profiling in order to uphold it.
I would be willing to bet Villaraigosa has no idea what is in Article I. Either way, two wrongs don’t make a right, Mr. Villaraigosa!

Here’s one of the quotes I found from Mayor Villaraigosa:  “Our goal is not to hurt the local economy of Los Angeles, but to impact the economy of Arizona. Our intent is to use our dollars, or the withholding of our dollars, to send a clear message.” This is exactly what Article I was meant to stop! Did I miss something somewhere that says the United States Constitution doesn’t apply to those who think they are Mexican-American? It may not apply to Mexicans, but It certainly applies to Americans…which one are you?

What you are doing is using your political power, as the Mayor of the largest city of the most powerful state in the union, to ethnically discriminate against Americans residing in Arizona.  Your loyalties are clearly to Mexicans first, Americans second…and that is very, very disturbing.
