American Civil War II

Well, I’d like to be the first to officially welcome everyone to the start of the Second American Civil War.  I’m guessing the marquee will say “American Patriots vs. ‘Integrated’-Americans (et.al)”

It is going to be a long, bloody mess.  I’ve said for a few years this was coming, I wish I had been wrong.    We already have States taking measures to boycott other States?  Hmmm, so I guess we’re throwing out Article I of the U.S. Constitution, right off the bat…

At least the first Civil War was somewhat geographically split, this time not so much.  This will most likely be outright guerilla warfare, neighbor vs. neighbor.  Even the United States Military will be divided among its ranks.

The United States is one move away from being put into Checkmate, and most Americans never saw it coming:

Option 1)  If we give in to illegal immigration and or immigrants that retain primary loyalty to a foreign nation instead of the United States, our Collective Will to defend America will be fragmented.  Mexican-Americans will most likely not fight against Mexico and the same might apply to any other soldier that sees himself as an “Integrated-American” and not just an American soldier.  Not all immigrants are of this mindset, but there are enough here that see themselves as something other than just “American” to do sufficient damage should we be defending ourselves from certain nations.  Best case scenario, they just refuse to fight, worst case scenario they sabotage from within.  Either way, we lose the war to a foreign victor.  As these people become citizens and seek political positions in the United States, our laws will tend to be drafted more favorable to foreign nations and less favorable to our nation.  This is the game we’ve already been playing the last couple of decades.   Eventually we just become a region, and not a nation at all.

Option 2)  We choose to follow in the footsteps of Arizona and attempt to put an end to illegal immigration.  Unfortunately it often results in profiling, because… well, it works.  I hate to pick on Latinos, but if you look Mexican and you can’t speak English…there is a good chance you aren’t legal.  And if you are legal, then you should have taken the initiative to learn English enough to profess your citizenship I guess, huh?  You should have done what immigrants did for 2 centuries and attempt to integrate into the society you are trying to join?   The problem with Option 2 stems from changes in the past few decades.  We were fairly lax in our immigration laws, so there are a lot of potential guerilla soldiers right here, ready to fight.  We also catered to immigrants as consumers.  We began marketing to them in their own language, so that they didn’t have to integrate into our society at all…so they didn’t.  Civil rights groups, who were pushing for good causes, have led to an entirely different perception of what kind of American you are.  We got used to using descriptors like Native-American, African-American and Mexican-American to describe our ethnicity.  What it did over the past few decades was ingrain a sense of having loyalty to 2 nations instead of 1 into the minds of many people from various ethnic backgrounds.  Somehow the Ethnic / Heritage descriptor erroneously became confused with a Nationality descriptor.  Many people in political power are of this mindset, which means that things can no longer be changed politically.  They can no longer divide their citizenship from their ethnicity in their minds.  That leaves us with two distinct groups, polarized at two extremes, within the borders of the United States.  Americans and “Something-Americans.”  At this point neither side will accept any political outcome, there will be a battle either way to regain what they think they have lost politically.  If we can’t stand as one nation, we will fall as a nation.  It is very easy for a hunter with a gun to stand back and shoot both bucks, who have found themselves locked together at the antlers in the middle of a fight.   Believe me, there are plenty of countries out there willing to pull the trigger as soon as they know we are an easy target.

I just hope that both sides clearly know the consequences of the position they are fighting for, should they ultimately win.  My experience tells me that the bulk of American Citizens agressively lunge forward only seeing what is two steps ahead, without ever stopping to realize that the 3rd step is the one that throws them off the cliff.
